280 m² GFA
2013 – 2014
On contract basis
On behalf of a developer, we transformed an existing upstairs residence in the center of Alkmaar into several individual apartments. Our plan included the splitting of the storeys into four residential units of approx. 60m2 and a renovation of the front and rear facades.
The Modernist building, dating from the 1960s, included slim steel-framed windows and vertical concrete ties in the façade, which created a striking contrast with the neighboring buildings. By plastering the exterior, installing new, slim, insulated window frames and placing a glass conservatory on the top floor that extended to the front façade, we were able to create two apartments on the top floor. We were able to preserve the Modernist features of the existing space while maintaining our focus on the creation of comfortable, modern apartments.
