A growing company required a larger factory to house an expanding repertoire of machinery. The neighboring warehouse became vacant, allowing for a linkage of the two warehouses via an extension in the middle that attaches to both buildings. The result will be a ‘mega-factory’ that meets the needs of a client that aims to produce more and faster.

By adding a continuous façade, we created cohesion between the two dissimilar buildings, resulting in optical continuity. The façade functions as a business card for the company and includes window frames that were produced in its own factory. The placement of the window frames is not uniform, which adds an element of heterogeneity to the building’s appearance. The areas between the façade and the original buildings create a filter between the activities carried out on the property and function as a patio. The addition of trees and shrubs creates a gradual and green transition to the surrounding public areas.

‘The façade creates an exciting ‘veil’ that binds the original buildings and serves as the factory’s business card.’
